Straight people don’t seem to understand this but literally nothing on earth could ever make a lesbian couple “heteronormative” in any way. It doesn’t matter if it’s a butch/femme couple and the butch works as a mechanic while the femme is a stay at home mom who cooks and cleans. A relationship between two girls can never—in any way, shape or form—be heteronormative because it’s not “hetero” at all. It’s literally a relationship between two girls… It will always defy heteronormativity.
my favorite thing on this website is how many urls are just “__lesbian” like it can be anything it doesn’t have to make any sense it can be like shelflesbian or nightlightlesbian and you know what? i love being a lesbian and my orientation is not “limiting” or “restricting”. i am so glad to be a lesbian and I wouldn’t change myself for anything or for anyone. coming to terms with being a lesbian has been one of the most freeing experiences of my life and i’m not going to let people diminish that.
okay so i’m not usually serious on this page but here goes: To this day, I try to avoid girls’ locker rooms whenever possible. I have this weird perception that since my hair is short and since I dress androgynously, people will know i’m gay and assume i’m there to spy on other girls. I feel very bad when I know people are uncomfortable, which is why I try to avoid touching straight girls (in a friend way) and mentioning being gay around straight acquaintances/friends I don’t know too well. I know I shouldn’t care about what other people think of me, but I do. Sometimes I even avoid girls bathrooms. I have no problem with people staring, but I really hate it when they’re uncomfortable. What i’m trying to get at is this: When i was younger, even before i identified as gay, I noticed how lesbians are portrayed as predatory, and I can’t help but to think that was a big part of what made me feel this way. So this is a message to young butch lesbians/really just every butch lesbian: you are valid and perfect and not predatory and you deserve to do everything a femme lesbian does! just because you “look gay” by society’s standards doesn’t mean you can’t do anything someone who “looks straight” does! you are valid if you want your hair short but don’t want to be out to anyone! you are amazing and I love you and don’t let society fuck with you like it did with me ❤️
LGBT Jews are resilient. Our love is incredible, our attraction is amazing, and our relationships are beautiful. There is nothing wrong with our existence, there is no contradiction, and we do not need to defend our love. There is nothing wrong with us being in love and in relationships and embracing every part of our identities. Our love is not second class.

that kind of love that’s “i was scared until i found you.” that kind of love that’s worth it to try romance again. the “fuck i’ll try cheesy if it just makes you smile” love, the roses and love notes and wine bottles. the twinkle light love, the “let’s go on this romantic date only to spend the whole thing being silly” love, the dancing badly to slow songs love, the “i don’t know how you make me laugh so much but seriously stop it i’m trying to drive” love. the “i trust you love,” calling late at night because a secret just welled up in my throat love, the first person i talk to so i can figure out this decision is you kind of love. the “i was hurt before and had given up but then i found you” love, the incredulous in-awe love, the wonder love, the are you actually real or am i dreaming you love. the “i didn’t believe in soulmates before you” love. that kinda love.
